Commish takes the 2021 Calcutta to the bank

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Commish & Assoc ran the table in Indy as 1-Baylor slayed the Final Four in dominant fashion, hitting 15 wins for the first time since the Chieftans record breaking 16 wins in 2014. They join several squads with the second best effort in the history of the Calcutta and gave the Commish his first national champion to boot according to the historical tab in the Rules of Combat. It was the second outright win of the Chalise in the last four events and the Yellow Jacket should actually fit now.

The morning line was prophetic stating "But let's face it, its Baylor or bust for the Commish."

Some other ringers in the morning line column rang true....

Regarding the second-place Slayers....he quoth..."They earned a 9-1 morning line, which may be the value bet of the Calcutta early betting."

Not to mention tabbing the "Play-in seed" better known as UCLA as the sleeper of the squad:

"....waited for some late night bargains in Colorado (5) for $6 (!), a 12-seed for $1 and a tough 11-seed play-in opponent in UCLA or Michigan State."

But as good as he was, he also made some blunders, like making the Counselors the morning line favorite, only to see them be the first team to be entirely eliminated.

It was a long day's night for the Amigos, who after a 9-0 deficit in the Natty, got their signature calling right before midnight.  Adios and good night Amigos.  The Zags made a good run and kept the waving at bay, but in the end the Amigos ran out of taco sauce.

What a run by the Slayers, tying the first round record with seven wins and hanging tough with high seeds into the Sweet Sixteen. They were a scary bunch and were a charge call away from a mano-y-mano final with the Commish. What's worse is they could've set the all-time win record had 1-Illinois or 2-Iowa actually did something. Amazing second-place effort by the Slayers with 13 wins - a number that has won or tied for its share of Calcuttas (14 of 22 if you're keeping score at home).

The Elders strategy always holds true. They've hit the board 10 times in the last 22 Calcuttas of record, that's not too shabby. Slow and steady wins the race.

For the Catholic Boyz, they could've turned the TV off early on Saturday night as it was ovah early. After a nice run from 2016-18, the Boyz look like they need a holy retreat to rejuvenate their wings.

Brad Hall: "Name change, my ass!"

Hope y'all enjoyed this year as much as I did!

Out until next March......
